With a height of 1788 m (5866 feet), Mt. Brunswick is the highest mountain in Cypress Provincial Park. In the early days, before the Squamish highway was completed in 1959, hikers travelled by boat from Horsehoe Bay to Porteau Cove and then climbed a trail to Deeks Lake. From there they followed a route southward that steepened dramatically as they approached the northern face tof the mountain.
