Trail to Lost Lake
from the Upper Brothers Creek Bridge
June 30 & July 13, 2013

In late December 2012, a combination of snow, rain, wind, and temperatures fluctuating above and below freezing resulted in massive tree fall on the North Shore Mountains and as far away as the lower slopes of Mt. Baker. Large trees situated on land above 600m and below 900m were particularly hard-hit. Around Blue Gentian Lake, trees fell on open areas that had been regenerating for years.

The 48 photos displayed on this page were taken on June 30th, 2013 above the upper Brothers Creek bridge. At different points, trees large and small that had fallen on the trail during the infamous 'tree party' in December 2012 made forward progress difficult. There was little sign of 'blow-down' trees around Lost Lake.
